if u used windows xp, then the install Microsoft Pinyin IME 3.0
instruction
- Open Control Panel > Regional and Languages Options
- switch to languages tab
- Make sure the [Install files for East Asian Languages] got tick
- Click Details
- Click Add under setting tab
- Change the input languages to [Chinese (PRC)]
- Then change the keyboard layout/IME to Chinese (Simplified) - Microsoft Pinyin IME 3.0
- Click OK & reboot the PC
Next time u want to type mandarin, u just [Alt+Shift] (left hand side), then u can start type pin yin.
